Sending money to family, paying a bill, or receiving payment for online work is hard when every transaction needs a trip to the bank. A JazzCash mobile account solves this: it works like a simple wallet on your phone, and you can open it from home in a few minutes. This guide shows both ways to create an account — through the JazzCash app and through the *786# code for Jazz users — plus how verification works and how to keep your account safe.
What you need before you start
Keep these things ready so the process does not stop in the middle:
- Your original CNIC (the account is opened on your own CNIC only)
- A mobile SIM registered on that same CNIC — Jazz and Warid numbers work directly, and numbers from other networks can also register through the app
- A smartphone with an internet connection (only needed for the app method)
- A quiet, well-lit place if the app asks for a selfie or biometric check
One important rule: the SIM and the CNIC must belong to the same person. If your SIM is registered on someone else's CNIC, the account will not open correctly and can be blocked later.
1. Create an account with the JazzCash app
Download the official JazzCash app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Be careful to install the real app by Mobilink Microfinance Bank, because fake wallet apps exist. Open the app and tap Sign Up or Create Account. Enter your mobile number and your CNIC number, then enter the one-time code (OTP) sent by SMS to confirm the number is yours.
Next, the app may ask you to take a selfie or place your finger for a biometric check, depending on your phone and the current rules. This confirms that a real person is opening the account. Follow the on-screen steps slowly, keep your face inside the frame, and do not wear sunglasses or a cap during the selfie.
2. Set your MPIN and finish
After verification, create your MPIN — the secret PIN you will use to approve every payment. Choose a PIN that is not your birth year, not 1234, and not the same as your phone unlock code. The app will ask you to enter it twice. Once done, your account is created and you can log in, check your balance, and receive money right away.
3. Create an account with *786# (Jazz users)
If you have a Jazz or Warid SIM and no smartphone, dial *786# from that SIM. A simple menu appears. Select the option to create a new account, then enter your CNIC number and its issue date exactly as printed on the card. You will be asked to create an MPIN. When the menu confirms, your basic account is ready, and you can use the same *786# menu later to send money, pay bills, and check your balance without internet.
4. Verify at an agent or franchise for higher limits
A new account starts with lower transaction limits. To raise them, visit any JazzCash agent, retailer, or franchise with your original CNIC and complete a biometric verification on their device — it takes a couple of minutes. Limits and account levels change from time to time, so instead of memorising figures, always check your current sending and receiving limits inside the app under your account or limits section before making a large transaction.
5. Keep your JazzCash account safe
- Never share your MPIN or any OTP code with anyone — JazzCash staff will never call and ask for them
- Beware of callers claiming you won a prize or that your account will be blocked; these are common fraud tricks
- Turn on your phone's screen lock and keep the app updated
- Before sending, double-check the receiver's number digit by digit — money sent to a wrong number is very hard to recover
If something goes wrong
If the app rejects your selfie or biometric again and again, clean the camera lens, move to brighter light, and try once more; if it still fails, complete the process at a JazzCash agent instead. If your SIM is not on your own CNIC, visit your network's franchise to fix the registration first — no wallet account will work properly until that is corrected.
Frequently asked questions
Can I open a JazzCash account on a Telenor, Zong, or Ufone number?
Yes. The JazzCash app allows registration with numbers from other networks as well. The *786# method, however, works only on Jazz and Warid SIMs.
Why was my account given a low limit?
New accounts start with basic limits for safety. Completing biometric verification at a JazzCash agent or franchise raises your account level and its limits.
Is it safe to share my MPIN with a JazzCash agent?
No. Never share your MPIN or OTP with anyone, including agents and people claiming to be bank staff. You only enter your PIN yourself, on your own phone or the official biometric device.
